Mid-Autumn Festival Fun for the Whole Family
“Little Galileo” Astronomy Science Day at The Arcade, Cyberport
Explore the mysteries of the universe at “STARLAB”
Catch a glimpse of stars hundreds of light years away through an interactive display
Want to celebrate this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival with activities that are out of this world? The Arcade, Cyberport proudly presents “Little Galileo” Astronomy Science Day on 27 and 28 September 2015 (Mid-Autumn Festival and the following day). Travel to outer space and become an astronaut, tracking glittering stars at our “STARLAB” exhibition. Young visitors can also learn more about astronomy by making their own interactive star charts, and take a virtual journey across the galaxy by joining our “Mobile Star Chart Workshop”. Come join us at the Waterfront Park for an unforgettable evening with your family and friends under the light of the silvery moon!
Experience the “STARLAB” to learn about our universe
Autumn is the best time to appreciate the beauty of the stars, so why not take the opportunity to teach your children about the Milky Way during the Mid-Autumn Festival? The Arcade, Cyberport has invited astronomy research and development center Galaxy Scientific Group to set up the first US-imported STARLAB in Hong Kong at the Arcade – giving children the opportunity to explore the mysteries of our galaxy and beyond, while igniting their interest in the cosmos. Through advanced digital projection technology, STARLAB creates a simulated star field – allowing visitors to examine the eight planets of our solar system, the 12 constellations of the Zodiac and the mysterious inner workings of nebulae… closer than ever before! Come and explore the vastness of space under the expert guidance of our experienced astronomers.
Hands-on Learning at the Mobile Star Chart Workshop
Bring the stars home with you! At the “Mobile Star Chart Workshop”, children will make their own DIY “Star Charts” – learning how to recognise stars and constellations in a fun, interactive format. The workshop aims to create lasting family memories, while providing an excellent educational opportunity for children to learn about the wonders of our universe. Who knows – your little one might grow up to be the next Galileo!
Be Amazed and Inspired at the Starry Starry Magic Show
The Arcade, Cyberport has invited Marco Mario (高添羽), champion of the Hong Kong Magic Festival, to create an astronomy-themed "Starry Starry Magic Show" to amaze and inspire. Lucky attendees will also have the opportunity to perform onstage with the master magician himself! This fun-filled show will inspire and captivate children while sparking their imagination and interest in astronomy.
Shake it up at Cyberport’s "Star Battle” and Giant Inflatable Dragon Castle
As part of the two-day event, families can participate in the “Star Battle”, where adults and children team up for 3 rounds of non-stop fun – and winning teams will take home astronomy-themed gifts. The mall has even set up a giant inflatable dragon castle for children to really shake things up!
