Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum unveils the new esports venue to power up the ecosystem Hong Kong’s largest esports venue is open to tap the global esports craze! As the first esports-focused international conference in Hong Kong, DELF’s main forum held on 16 July attracted over 700 participants from the industry and public to hear from over 40 esports icons, influencers, industry elites and celebrity gamers from around the world.
From the next big thing of the world’s esports to regional dynamics, speakers from the UK, Israel, Germany, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Mainland China, and Hong Kong converged for insightful discussions and exchange on market trends, development of esports and digital entertainment as well as future opportunities in more than 30 themed sessions throughout the day. Deep-dive tracks also explored hottest topics like wellness and professional development, entrepreneurship, innovation, business and beyond.
Leaders from ESL, Campcom, Esports Insider, WellPlayed, Thailand Esports Federation, PwC, Israeli e-Sports Association and local esports community of Esports Association Hong Kong, Hong Kong eSports Federation, Macao E-sports Federation and more were featured at DELF. Attendees also enjoyed first-hand esports and other gaming experience through the three experience areas, which are themed as the Game Zone, Tech Zone and Venturer Zone, where they were treated to great fun at immersive games, latest tech and start-up showcases.
A number of esports celebrity invitational games also took the stage to show-off their skills in the League of Legends, FIFA and Street Fighter.
DELF marks only the start of Cyberport’s summertime esports extravaganza. Hot off the heels of DELF is the two-day Blockchain Gamer Connects, an acclaimed international conference that explores blockchain in game. This conference, which was well received in San Francisco, Helsinki and London, provides opportunities for market players of mobile games and the Blockchain industry to expand collaboration and opportunities. DELF also lit up the two-week DE*Spark series, which features more esports and digital entertainment competitions, festival and an experience day.
“I am pleased to see the effort and resources put in by the Government and Cyberport bearing fruit, with the first official e-sports competition to be held at this great new venue this coming weekend,’ said Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology who officiated the event opening.
Cyberport also announced at DELF for partnering with Hong Kong Esports Premier League to host the first city-wide esports league, which serves as a training platform for professional and amateur players alike.
“The many esports programmes, competitions and events to be staged in this brand new esports venue are for more people to embrace the huge potential of esports and digital entertainment industry,” Peter Yan, CEO of Cyberport, said. “DELF as a whole represents an opportunity to bring esports community and stakeholders together to foster synergies, and groom the esports ecosystem and make Hong Kong an esports hub.”
