Cyberport to host Digital Silk Road Breakout Forum at the Belt and Road Summit 2019 ![]() Cyberport will be joining the upcoming Belt and Road Summit 2019 and will be hosting a thematic breakout forum on day two of the summit (12 September), during which active industry players and innovative entrepreneurs will look into how FinTech reshapes the cross-border trade along Digital Silk Road.
The forum will examine how FinTech can bridge the Belt and Road’s tremendous financial opportunities and facilitate financial integration and policy coordination of Belt and Road markets.
Henry Tillman, Founder and Chairman of China Investment Research, will deliver a keynote speech and look into the “Emerging Technology Gateway to Silk Road”.
A panel discussion will follow with the theme “Unleashing Potential Market Power along Digital Silk Road: How FinTech foster the integration of cross-border Smart Finance?”. Technological innovation enriches smart living and increases the flexibility of business activities between countries, enabling businesses to reach overseas markets. Nowadays the emergence of FinTech solutions and technologies help to connect capital, goods and services along the Digital Silk Road, ensuring the financial supply chain of businesses thereby encouraging local business to reach Belt and Road markets through online platforms.
Charles Lam, Senior Manager of the FinTech & Blockchain Cluster from Cyberport, will moderate the panel discussion joined by three promising FinTech start-ups from the community, who will share their experience and successful cases of how innovative Fintech solutions capitalise the huge market opportunities along the Belt and Road countries.
The three start-ups include Transwap (an international FX and payments platform), Joy Rich Venture Limited (an online local procurement and SME financing marketplace), and Velotrade Management Limited (a platform that allows businesses to turn trade receivables into advanced funds).
Aside from talks, Cyberport will also showcase at the exhibition floor its unique platform in fostering entrepreneurial growth and driving digital tech industry development into international markets.
Cyberport is a Breakout Forum Partner of the Summit. This premier annual international conference, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is dedicated to promoting business collaboration along the Belt and Road. The event gathers senior government officials and business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral co-operation and explore concrete business opportunities.
