The week-long virtual festival is an annual mega start-up gala drawing huge audiences from across the globe.
Insights and thought leadership galore
At KPMG’s Connected Cities Conference, Cyberport collaborated as Strategic Partner and played host to three key sessions to examine an array of timely topics joined by the company’s key executives.
Cyberport’s CEO Peter Yan joined a fireside chat entitled “The Future of Entrepreneurs”, where he shared his thoughts on Hong Kong’s prospects as a “tech + innovation” hub, offered an overview of the city’s talent cultivation efforts and international traction, start-up support, and introduced Cyberport’s upcoming plans.
Chief Public Mission Officer Eric Chan moderated a panel on “Business Collaboration for Social Good in the Post-pandemic Era”, during which he spoke with four Cyberport start-ups (Rice Robotics, Negawatt, Wonderkin, and Toby) about their entrepreneurial experience and success stories. And Chief Corporate Development Officer Dr Stella Kwan moderated a panel entitled “Wheel of Innovation – Women Edition”, where she engaged a group of women executives, including a representative from Cyberport community company Find Solution Ai, to discuss the impacts, disruption, accessibility, and application to various industries and demographics.
Eric Chan also shared on “How 5G shape a smarter GBA” in a panel session at the GBA Innovation Summit 2021. With talent cultivation being one of Cyberport’s core public missions, Peter Yan also joined a panel at the Mills Fabrica Ecosystem Summit 2021 and talked about “Fostering Hong Kong’s talent development”.
Community members shine
Ideas sharing aside, the Startmeup.HK Festival is always a prime opportunity for start-ups to gain exposure, test their entrepreneurial skills, and meet potential partners and investors. This year was no different. Droves of Cyberport community members took part in workshops, job fairs, start-up pitches, and investor-business matching meetings.
Moreover, more than 30 start-ups showcased their solutions at the virtual Cyberport Pavilion set up at the Connected Cities Conference, GBA Innovation Summit, Shaperz Day, Scaleup Impact Summit, and Virtual FinTech Fair.
