Yuliverse is a developer of in-real-life (IRL) metaverse games. Unlike other metaverse games, the Cyberport start-up’s eponymous game offers a location-based role-playing experience that prioritises building social connections. Rather than having players go it alone, the game encourages them to band with those nearby and embark on treasure hunts and quests together. Since its release in late 2022, the game has already racked up some 20,000 players.
The Cyberport company recently received US$1.7 million in seed funding for its innovative and engaging gameplay. The round was led by LIF, with participation from Animoca Ventures, Archerman Capital, Lionrock, TKX, Hummingbird Capital, and K24 Ventures. The funding will enable Yuliverse to further develop its platform and bring more people together in both Web3 and IRL.
Moreover, the start-up has entered into an exclusive tourism partnership with Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture. The collaboration will see Yuliverse release a Kumamon NFT, which will allow players to equip their in-game characters with distinctive accessories and unlock special abilities. Travellers to Kumamoto can even explore a mysterious map and unearth exclusive treasures, merging the digital and physical worlds for an immersive and highly enjoyable gaming experience.
