The Cyberport start-up community showcased its prowess once again at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2023, with 25 start-ups winning 27 awards across eight categories. Notably, krip HK, an integrated platform for credit card deals, not only bagged the FinTech Grand Award and FinTech (Emerging Solutions) Gold Award but it also outperformed the other seven Grand Award winners to secure the event’s highest honour, the Award of the Year.
Cyberport start-ups triumphed in all key cluster categories. Start-ups in the FinTech category won six awards, including one Grand Award, two gold, one silver, and one bronze. In Smart Living, start-ups amassed 10 awards in the categories of Smart Living, Smart Mobility, Smart People, and Smart Business Solution. These included three gold, one silver, and two bronze awards. Digital Entertainment start-ups also performed admirably, claiming five awards in their category, including two silver awards.
Furthermore, Cyberport’s start-ups clinched a number of awards in the ICT Startup category, including one gold, one silver, and one bronze awards.
Contenders from the Cyberport community showcased the variety and vitality of their innovations. They presented trailblazing technologies and business models, including a Web3 crypto payment solution, indoor navigation tools for the visually impaired, and virtual sports and ArtTech for STEM education. Additionally, they exhibited socially conscious innovations, including a food-saving application to assist F&B businesses in minimising unsold food surplus and an AI robot catering to special education needs.
As observed by Eric Chan, Cyberport’s Chief Public Mission Officer, “The impressive achievements of the Cyberport community reaffirm our start-ups’ innovation capabilities and market competitiveness. They also reflect our community’s substantial contributions towards addressing social issues and propelling digital transformation. Cyberport will continue to cultivate start-ups, facilitate the I&T sector’s integration into national development, and advance Hong Kong as an international I&T centre.”
