3D animation contest offers a range of enrichment activities to participating students

With the objective to provide opportunity for the younger generation to showcase their talent and develop their potential, Cyberport and Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association jointly organize the Hong Kong Youth 3D Animation Competition 2012.  Themed "My Neighbourhood", this year's competition invites students to create 3D animation by drawing on their surroundings, people and things in their neighbourhood.

Primary and secondary school students are expected to enjoy a range of enrichment activities.  The activities include gaining insights and knowledge through a 3D software training workshop, sharing by industry professional, and a seminar on "How to Make a Story Board" conducted by Mr. Jeffrey Lau, a renowned local comic artist and illustrator.  Winners will also have the opportunity to go on a company visit, take up an internship, being nominated to participate in international contest, as well as enjoy other attractive prizes.

Apart from enrichment activities and prizes, support to contestants has also been strengthened.  Cyberport's Technology Centre will provide contestants with 3D rendering services via the cloud platform so as to improve the overall quality and efficiency of their work.  While HKIVE, the competition co-organizer, will also provide help desk services to contestants in September, helping them to solve problems encountered during the production of the animation.

The competition is split into three groups comprising primary school, and two secondary school divisions with division 1 accepting submissions for one minute animation, and division 2 accepting submissions for three minute animation.  Deadline of the application has been extended to 5 July.  Interested parties please click here to download the application form.
