Cyberport organized delegation exploring opportunities at Soft China Expo |
Cyberport organized, at the end of May, a Hong Kong
delegation to the 16th International Soft China Expo, the country's largest
annual national software trade show.
Led by Ms. Elizabeth Tse, the Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic
Development (Communication & Technology) and Daniel Lai, the Government Chief
Information Officer, the delegation comprised of some 70 delegates including
representatives from the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, HK
ICT award winners, Cyberport incubatees and others in the ICT industry.
The delegates gained first-hand experience of the latest developments in cloud
computing and Mainland China's software market. They met the key industrial
players, mainland government officials and participated in meetings, visits and
networking sessions.
Cyberport, in partnership with the Hong Kong Software Industry Association (HKSiA),
also set up a 255-sqm Hong Kong Pavilion at the Expo where 25 Hong Kong ICT
entrepreneurs and partners showcased their innovative solutions and products in
cloud computing, digital entertainment and infotainment. Over 2,500 visitors
toured the Pavilion over the period, and some were interested in Cyberport's
incubation scheme, CCMF, upcoming events and activities, and also looked at
collaborating with Cyberport.
"Cyberport was very pleased to be a part of this important delegation. This was
the second year we have been the supporting organizer to the Soft China Expo in
Beijing. I believed, together with government and industry representatives, we
were able to explore many areas of potential co-operation between Hong Kong and
the Mainland. We also gained a better understanding of China's software
industry," said Herman Lam, CEO of Cyberport.
