"Internet of
Things" conference explores the impact of a smart world |
It is not unimaginable that homes and cities could one day become smart given
the stunning pace of technological development that is rapidly transforming our
lives.
Jointly hosted by Internet Society Hong Kong and IET HK and co-hosted by
Cyberport, "The Internet of Things- from Vision to Reality" Conference will be
held at Cyberport on 4 September afternoon which aims to answer what that smart
world means and how this will unleash a wave of new possibility for data
gathering, predictive analyses and IT automation.
The conference will cover research and real case studies that illustrate the
evolution of vision to reality with officiating guests to include Professor
Joseph Ng, Vice-Chairman of the Internet Society Hong Kong, Gary Lai, the
Assistant Government Chief Information Officer (Industry Facilitation) at the
OGCIO and Dr Angus Cheung, Chairman of IET Hong Kong.
A range of topics are on the agenda including the Internet of everything, IoT
making smarter business a better life, prototyping tools for IoT and how the
internet of things can evolve from vision to reality.
Featured speakers include Wayne Pales, head of the Smart Grid Programme at CLP
Power HK who will discuss his company's Smart Metering Pilot scheme launched
earlier this year, Raymond Poon, Customer Solutions Architect at Cisco Systems
HK, Raymond Ng, Chief Operation Officer at GS1 HK, Angus Wong, Associate
Professor and Program Leader of Open University of Hong Kong's Engineering
Sciences team and Anthony Wong, Chairman of the Electronic and Communications
Section at IET HK.
