Outblaze celebrates 15th anniversary |
Cyberport tenant Outblaze is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
Founded in 1998, the company pioneered cloud computing services, and was the
first to offer fully hosted multilingual communication services for online
communities. It also provides various digital media products and services
including virtual community services, online transaction systems, web
communication software, smartphone apps and games, and social media
applications.
Outblaze relocated its headquarters to Cyberport in 2002. Since then, the
award-winning company's notable achievements include selling its messaging
division to IBM in 2009, a first for a Hong Kong company. IBM used the Outblaze
business to set up the first IBM cloud computing laboratory in the region and
the messaging services have become a part of IBM's Lotus LiveEngage online
social networking and collaboration offering for businesses.
Other achievements include the award-winning Outblaze Video, one of the first
web services that let users create, edit and share presentations, videos and
slideshows online. Since 2009, Outblaze has focused its efforts on digital
gaming, leveraging its technological savvy to produce games for consoles, PC,
Web, social networks and smartphones/tablets. Mobile apps by Outblaze have been
downloaded over 170 million times around the world.
"Heartiest congratulation to Outblaze's splendid success. We are very pleased
the company has made its home at Cyberport and I wish Outblaze every success in
their future endeavours," said Mark Clift, COO of Cyberport.
"Outblaze has enjoyed a fulfilling and productive journey thus far. As we focus
on digital entertainment for the future, we look forward to making more inroads
in the industry," said Yat Siu, CEO of Outblaze.
