Cyberport hosts
first ever kids coding day |
Cyberport is partnering with Let's Code (HK), a non-profit organization, to
launch its first ever kids coding event to inspire interest in computer
programming and encourage more young people to explore the dynamics of the ever
evolving ICT industry.
Echoing the world's hottest trend, the Hong Kong government has recognized early
age coding education as an important facet of growth for the city, considered
one of the key areas of information and communications technology (ICT)
development under its Digital 21 Strategy.
"Cyberport is delighted to have the opportunity to arouse the public awareness
and interest of kids programming which can pave the way for ICT talent
development at the early stage. We are also very pleased to be
collaborating with our tenant on this knowledge building initiative," said
Herman Lam, CEO of Cyberport.
The afternoon event on 1 March will feature the Final of Hong Kong's first Minecraft Competition for primary 3 to secondary 3 students. Through the
contest, participants can demonstrate their artistic and coding abilities and
strategic thinking skills to complete challenges in a timely manner.
Kids and teens will also have the opportunity to attend useful coding workshops
which teach coding methodology with hands on plugged and unplugged coding
activities.
What's more, there will also be a kids coding education forum for parents to
better understand how code education can help teachers and students embark on
innovative learning in the classroom. In addition, a case study
presentation by final year BBA students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong
as well as sharing sessions featuring parents and kids.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn, share and brainstorm with the
budding coders of tomorrow!
