Cyberport names DigiPlayground game design contest winners |
Cyberport has named winners of the DigiPlayground
game design competition, a contest that enabled primary and secondary school
students to push the envelope on creativity by designing games for the iGrid, a
core component of the Cyberport DigiPlayground, Asia's first outdoor interactive
digital playground first launched by Cyberport in July 2009.
Over 60 submissions were received with participants competing as individuals or
in small teams. Three winning teams, each from the primary and secondary
school divisions, were recognised for their innovation and creativity.
Their games were not only fun, but also addressed some pertinent topics such as
a healthy diet and the prevention of drug abuse.
Winners in the primary division include Koo Ho Tin as well as Lai Yat Sang and
Lam Cheuk Hei, all from the Baptist Lui Ming Choi Primary School, and Szeto Hau
Lam from St. Clare's Primary School.
Secondary school winners are Chan Hi Yue and Ho Chiu Lam from the Creative
Secondary School, Cho Hin Ting from the HKCCCU Logos Academy and Lai Tsz Kit
from Tin Shui Wai Methodist College.
The winning teams will each be awarded a cheque of HK$2,000, to reflect the
royalty purchase of the games, in a prize presentation ceremony on February 8,
to be held at the Ocean View Court of The Arcade.
"It was not an easy decision to pick six winners out of a very talented group,"
said Dr. David Chung, Cyberport's Head of ITO. "The winning entries not
only demonstrated a high level of creativity but also amazed us with the
educational value of their games."
The winning games will be made available at the Cyberport DigiPlayground for
public enjoyment next month. |
