DCCA to award digital photography competition winners in March |
Winners of the District Cyber Centres Alliance (DCCA)
organised digital photography competition will be recognised at an appreciation
ceremony in March, to be followed by an exhibition of the winning works from
April to June.
Themed "Digital Life, Inclusion Community", the competition, which ran from
December 1, 2010 to February 1, 2011, was designed to encourage District Cyber
Centre members' interest in digital photography. During the two-month
period, participants were able to attend several digital photography seminars
and field trips in order to gain a further understanding of digital photography.
Three winners: the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up as well as
three awards of merit were awarded to the three participant categories which
included youngsters (aged 18 and below), adults (aged between 19-50) and seniors
(aged 51 and above).
The contest is a thematic Community Campaign of the DCCA's Cyber Community Award
Scheme this year. The scheme aims to encourage lifelong education and
application of ICT skills to promote mutual help in ICT literacy within the
community. Affiliated DCCA centres can structure different DCCA accredited
curriculum and awards to qualified learners based on the number of accumulative
learning hours and performance. These programmes provide the ICT
illiterate community with continuous learning opportunities. In support of
this goal, DCCA will also provide a HK$52,000 start-up fund to each
participating centre to support their related preparation work within their
first year of joining the scheme.
The DCCA is an initiative formed by Cyberport, the Internet Professional
Association and the Information Technology Resource Centre of the Hong Kong
Council of Social Service. The Alliance was launched two years ago to
bridge the digital divide by making accessible information and communication
technology, internet services, IT training and technical support to
disadvantaged members of the community. |
