Dr Rocky CHENG Chung-ngam

CEO


As CEO of Cyberport, Dr Rocky Cheng leads Hong Kong’s digital technology flagship to advance the public missions of talent cultivation, technology industry development, and digital transformation of society and business, injecting new impetus into Hong Kong’s digital economy with innovation and technology (I&T).


Dr Cheng brings over 30 years of rich experience in the information technology and financial industries, with a solid background in planning and governing development of I&T. Before joining Cyberport, Dr Cheng held key positions in large corporations, drove multi-faceted business development, aptly applied technology to innovate financial products and services, and to enhance operational processes. To steer application of FinTech and corporate digital transformation, Dr Cheng has profound experiences in strategy formulation and execution of drives. Dr Cheng is also dedicated to contributing to the I&T industry and education in various relevant public service positions. Currently, he is a Member of the Digital Economy Development Committee of the HKSAR Government, a Member of the Technology and Innovation Subsector of the Election Committee from 2021 to 2026 and more, committed to promoting I&T development and talent cultivation in Hong Kong.


Dr Cheng holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an Executive Master of Public Administration from Beijing Tsinghua University, an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong. He also studied business leadership programmes at the University of Cambridge and London Business School in the UK.


Howard CHENG Hay-wing

Chief Operating Officer


Ir Howard Cheng is the Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. He oversees all aspects of Cyberport's campus development and management, leading initiatives in Campus Operations & Property Management, Engineering Services, Leasing for offices, retail, and meeting/conferencing venues, as well as Hotel strategies. He is dedicated to the introduction of cutting-edge digital technologies to enhance services for Cyberport's tenants, start-ups, and the campus community.


Prior to his role at Cyberport, Ir Howard Cheng held significant leadership positions. He served as an Advisor and Head of Planning and Development at Kowloon Motor Bus, managing complex public transport operations. Additionally, he held the position of Managing Director at Serco Group HK Limited, a renowned international service company specializing in managing various special facilities operations including toll roads, tunnels, car parks, transport infrastructure, recycling parks, highway surveillance systems, and hospitals in the public sector. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the company's operations in Hong Kong and China. Furthermore, he served as the Assistant General Manager of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, where he was responsible for diverse functions and businesses related to airport operations.


Ir Howard Cheng holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, and an undergraduate degree in Applied Science in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto. He is also a Fellow Member of both the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.


Mr Edmond LAU

Chief Financial Officer


Mr Edmond Lau is the Chief Financial Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Limited. He is responsible for the Finance & Governance functions and oversees relevant financial operations and strategic development of the company.


Mr Lau has more than 20 years of profound experience in finance, investment and business development in the technology sector, with a particular focus on fintech and digital assets in recent years. He served as the CFO of technology companies, and the Head of Investment, Head of Incubation as well as Managing Director of listed companies and venture funds. He sat on the boards of private technology companies and provided strategic advice on growth and financing. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lau worked at CLSA, Citigroup and Accenture, focusing on the telecommunications, media and technology industries.


Mr Lau holds an MBA (distinction, Dean’s List) from London Business School, a Bachelor of Information Engineering (first class) from CUHK, and a Bachelor of Laws from China University of Political Science and Law. He is dedicated to technology development in the region and is often invited to be a guest speaker and panellist at prominent summits. He is a board member of numerous industry associations and assessment panels. He also holds the role of school manager for primary and secondary schools and an adjunct professor at a university.


Georgina CHU
Chief Corporate Development Officer


As the Chief Corporate Development Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Ms Georgina Chu steers corporate planning and development by leading functions across corporate strategy development, GBA development, marketing and public affairs.


Ms Chu brings over 25 years of experiences in the telecommunications and data centre industry, and has held key strategic roles. Before joining Cyberport, Ms Chu served as Senior Director of Enterprise and Financial Markets for the APAC region at Equinix Asia-Pacific, and effectively rolled out global programmes, formulated and oversaw execution of sales strategies, and acted as the regional subject matter expert both internally and externally. In her earlier capacity as Executive Director and Country Manager of Colt Technology Services, she successfully drove business growth in the APAC region and managed corporate operations in Hong Kong, on the Mainland and Singapore.


Ms Chu holds an MBA from California Coast University in the US and a BBA from Hong Kong Baptist University. 


Eric Chan Sze-yuen

Chief Public Mission Officer


Ir Eric Chan is the Chief Public Mission Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport. Chan is in charge of the public mission operation at Cyberport, building the ecosystem of nurturing start-ups from inspiring the next generation, through nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, to empowering global ambition, through comprehensive entrepreneurship programmes with funding and other value-added services.


Chan has over 30 years of experience in the ICT industry, a chartered engineer, a chartered marketer, and a Fellow of Institution of Engineering & Technology (UK). Prior to joining Cyberport, Chan held various senior positions in global ICT companies including Hutchison, PCCW, Cable & Wireless HKT etc.. Chan has been active in public services, especially in education and industrial training, professional bodies, and charitable organisations. Chan is the Chairman of Knowledge Management Development Center, Chairman of Industrial Training Advisory Committee (ICT Sector) and serves on a number of advisory committees under Education Bureau and Home Affairs Bureau. He also serves on advisory boards and mentorship programs at the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong.


Chan holds a BSc. (Hon) degree in Engineering from University of London, an MBA in Finance from Manchester Business School and received Senior Executive Education from INSEAD (France) and IESE (Spain) business schools. 


Johnny Chan
Chief Investment Officer

Mr Johnny Chan is the Chief Investment Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. He leads the investment strategies and all aspect of the Cyberport Macro Fund’s developments. He was a member of the Cyberport Advisory Panel until September 2018.

 
Mr. Chan is a Deputy Chairman of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and the President of the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Capital Association (aka HKVCA). He is the Secretary General of the Asia Venture Capital and Private Equity Council (AVCPEC) which he co-founded with 9 other Asian associations in 2011. He was the Chairman of HKVCA from 2007-2011.


He is the founder of Softech Investment Management Limited, which acted as the manager of the Government’s Applied Research Fund from 2000-2019.  He acts as an Independent Non Executive Director for several companies and the Make a Difference Institute. He was the co-Founder of Techpacific and Crosby Group  and acted as the CEO of Crosby Capital Limited from 2000 to 2013 and concurrently, Chairman and CIO of Crosby Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited until 2016. The Crosby Group activities comprise of management of venture and private equity funds, financial advisory and wealth management.


Mr Chan obtained a BA Hons Economics from the London Metropolitan University and an MBA from Bayes Business School, City, University of London. He is a fellow of FINSIA and holds a Post Graduate Diploma of the Securities Institute of Australia.


Will YU Tat-Cheung
Project Director

Mr Will Yu is the Project Director of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. Mr. Yu is responsible for the project management of Cyberport Expansion Project and off-site satellite co-working spaces.


Mr Yu has over 20 years of experience in design and project management of building development projects in Hong Kong and China. Before joining Cyberport, he has held senior management positions with major property development companies, including Wheelock Properties, Nan Fung Development and Cheung Kong Holdings. His expertise covers a wide spectrum of property development projects including residential, office, hotel, retail and public work developments.


Mr Yu holds a Master degree of Architecture (Hons.) (Distinction) and a Bachelor degree of Architectural Studies (Hons.) from The University of Hong Kong. He is registered architect, member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Authorized Person under Buildings Ordinance.
